New Google Adsense Ad Unit Looks Premium

300x250 animated New Google Adsense Ad Unit Looks Premium

Great news to all adsense publisher that Google is now quietly testing new ad unit for limited sites. I have found out this while customizing Free Valid Coupons for my friend. It looks interesting and more like related contents rather than advertisement. This can be a good way to boost adsense revenue too.

Actually, it is not a new ad unit but it should be a new ad format. The banner at the bottom of Free Valid Coupons site is 728×90 and sometimes it shows 3 ads in horizontal line as usual. However, today there was a big difference in the way adsense ads show. The adsense ads showed in vertical line instead of horizontal line.

The new adsense ads format looks interesting and more likely a premium ads that also show on premium adsense publishers. However, this coupon site is quite new then there was not possibility that premium adsense ads could display. That is why I guess that Google is testing new adsense ads format.

Here are example that I have just captured from that website:

New Adsense Premium Ads 2

I have also raised this question to DP Forums but most of replies saying that Google seems to be testing new ads format. It is unlikely a premium ads.

The new testing ads looks interesting to me as it show as related contents/posts and it could easily match with content of the post. It must convert very well too. I hope to see this ads soon be released and we can put it right under out single posts to boost our adsense revenue.

Additionally, the new format will also refresh readers’ mind and they will more likely click on adsense of their interest rather than old format. I am thinking about putting back adsense on this blog sooner and the first ad unit size would be 728×90.

What do you think about this change?

I can’t see any horizontal lines of Adsense ads on the Free Valid Coupons site. It will be great to put these lines along with related posts under articles. I will wait for more official information from Adsense. :muzik:

That looks great! I’m sure this adsense unit would convert pretty well compare to the old bored adsense unit. Can’t wait to see the launch!

I submitted my site to adsense and it was accepted the same day. I didn’t even have 10 pages of content and the site was fairly new. I think they are getting less strict.

Today, I dont see any difference of GA from FVC, if it’s true, I think this is random ad in random time for random publishers :yeah:

It is testing ads and few people could see it and few blogs were chosen to show it

I’d like to see that new vertical ad. Won’t it be harder to layout a website though? Anyway, I also seem to have had a hard time reading this post. I mean, I had to reread that first line a couple of times and it still didn’t make sense. Is it just me?

Reply

Tran Tinh June 12, 2010 at 9:19 pm

Unfortunately, I could not see that vertical changes, maybe that coupon site does not use vertical ads.

Hi Tinh! It’s me again! In my opinion, I don’t see any advantage of having this new ad looks as shown in the image in your article. Anyway, thanks for your sharing! At least i know Google Adsense is trying to make some improvement now. :)

Reply

Tran Tinh June 12, 2010 at 9:25 pm

I am a bit against to your opinion as I see some benefits of having that new look of adsense. I looks like an indispensable part of single post and readers can refresh their eyes, more clicks to come means more bucks. Actually, the premium publishers had took advantage of this for a while and it worked well

himanshu June 10, 2010 at 11:58 pm

lets see how much revenue it can generate. But i don’t think it’ll be much of a success as we already have link ads.

Reply

Tran Tinh June 12, 2010 at 9:29 pm

Link ads looks like a menu that is not content rich then hard to convince readers to click on. I think this new format can boost our adsense revenue with smart placement

You will come to know about it once you compare the two same sized ad units side-by-side, one with the new larger font and the other with the smaller usual style, all you’ll be able to say is “wow!”

Reply

Tran Tinh June 12, 2010 at 9:34 pm

We need to wait once it is officially out and make a comparison among two same size to see how beneficial the new one compared to the old one

I don’t currently use Adsense anywhere, but this certainly looks like a step up.

What are premium ads?

Reply

Ajith Edassery@Make Money Online June 12, 2010 at 12:29 pm

@Dennis, I thought Premium ads were there long back itself for those who have more than 100K impressions per day. Those people had the capability to use AdSense APIs to render the ads the way they wanted. They can even make ‘Ads by Google’ really small and place in an almost invisible way, choose any font/color and ad sizes. Not sure if they have now exposed it to masses.

Ah yes, I remember. Googles favoritism. LOL

I have seen the horizontal links in other websites and it did catch my attention for a while.

Maybe the novelty of seeing such ads will result in higher clicks but after some time, I think the CTR will normalize.
