Facebook has become the champion among social networking sites and its growth does not seems to stop even the global economic crisis has no recovering signal. The revenue seems very promising that can take Facebook to another level. That is why the flow of internet users are not redirecting from other social networks to Facebook.
If we consider Facebook a baby, so it is now only 6 years old and this baby just enter the primary school. However, this baby has made a great achievement that a normal baby can never do. Facebook has defeated all big sites to be #1 of social networks and also kick YouTube & Yahoo to take the #2 after Google. I think that Facebook can do more than what it has done so far. Google will be the next competitor of Facebook?
Here is the official announcement from Mark Zuckerberg – founder of Facebook on its blog:
Today we’re celebrating our sixth birthday, and this week there will be 400 million people on Facebook. Just one year ago we served less than half as many people, and thanks to you we’ve made great progress over the last year towards making the world more open and connected.
Facebook began six years ago today as a product that my roommates and I built to help people around us connect easily, share information and understand one another better. We hoped Facebook would improve people’s lives in important ways. So it’s rewarding to see that as Facebook has grown, people around the world are using the service to share information about events big and small and to stay connected to everyone they care about.
It is a long time with a lot of fun for Facebook this time when it reaches 400 million users – more than two times higher than less than a year ago. I am not surprised if other social networks has same growth speed. However, Facebook has made an amazing development and it could be much better in the future too.
Do you think that Google could be defeated by Facebook as it has done with Yahoo & Youtube?

Thanks for the birthday wish!
What an amazing feat for Facebook. I personally don’t use Facebook but with all the people I know who are on it and bugging me to register for it too, it looks like I won’t be able to keep avoiding it for long.
Yes, 400 million members is not a small number and who can beat FB in terms of social networking? is that Google Buzz? :yeah:
Could it be a worse time for Google to launch “Google Buzz”?

An amazing feat, to be sure, but Facebook’s privacy policy is a disaster. Their new “instant personalization” feature changing the web as we know it, and I’m not sure it’s for the better.
I’ve decided to quit Facebook altogether. I’m going to be blogging about my experience at http://www.livingwithoutfacebook.com if you’d like to check it out and see why.
Basically, I just don’t trust Facebook with my data and am looking for a better alternative elsewhere.

Well, to some extent I agree with you on the FB privacy policy and it need to further work on that. However, it is a good social network among those I have used so far. I will check it out and see why you quit! :thanx:
