[Thesis Tutorials] How To Integrate Cu3er Post Elements To Thesis Theme Feature Box

CU3ER, in a nutshell, is a .swf (flash) file, designed & developed for displaying images & slides in 3D way. It requires an XML configuration file in which the paths to the existing images and instructions (settings), necessary for handling those, are defined.

This image slider is equipped with a great range of features that enhance the user’s experience of viewing slides. They can be grouped together lining User Interface and 3D Transitions.

I have read the reviews on Cu3er on Hutek – one of my friends and also a professional designers who has participated in ThemeForest with New Wind theme. However, that review is only for wordpress theme and I could not know how to integrate it into Thesis theme. That is why I searched around and found out a simple way to do this. HuTruc – another Thesis fan has shared his tip on how to integrate Cu3er functions into Thesis feature box.

Here is the the way that you can make Cu3er work with Thesis Feature Box.

Step 1:

Before implementing this tutorials, you need to download Cu3er Post Elements plugin and upload to the plugin folder and activate it as usual. Then you go to the Cu3er settings to configure how many posts, what categories, slider interval time to fit your needs:

For newbie bloggers and not good at coding, CSS, you should only change the category IDS and number of posts to show. Let the other parts as default.

Step 2:

To make this feature work properly, you need to go to Design Options within Thesis Panel, activate the Feature Box:

Step 3:

After the Step 2, you should go to the Thesis folder either by FTP or Notepad++ and look for the file /thesis_16/lib/functions/feature_box.php. You will search for this code:

thesis_hook_feature_box();

You will need replace that code with this one:

//thesis_hook_feature_box();
if ( function_exists('install_cu3er') )  { install_cu3er(); }

Save it and it is done. You can see its effect now on your blog like I have done on this. This looks elegant and stylish rather than many other slider plugins that I have used before.

Please remember that, the Cu3er Post Elements will automatically get the first picture of curtain posts to display in the slider. The ideal pictures should be 600x300px and if you do not have any pictures on that post, the default picture will be displayed instead
