Blogussion Inspired 1.0.2 version has fixed some bugs and I was happy with the support from Blogussion Forum. However, the most important thing that I needed to see was not included in the latest version. That was the bugs which made the sidebar widgets look so weird.

If you see the sidebar of any blog which is now using Blogussion, you will see a big space at the bottom of each widget. It makes your widgets look like separate parts of the sidebar. It should be linked to other parts on the same sidebar. It means there should be no big space between each widgets like what you see now on my sidebar.

Here is the sreenshot from Kevin Tan who has not fixed the bug yet:

Not fixed yet!

Now, you can see what happened with my sidebar which has bug fixed:

eBlogTip [Thesis Tutorials] How To Fix Blogussion Inspired Sidebar Widget Bug

Fixed it!

I am sure that you will like to see mine rather than any other as you can save many space for other widgets. Further, the bugs will not make your sidebar look professional.

Frankly, this issue was raised by many bloggers including me in the Blogussion Talk Forum but so far there is no guide on how to fix it. That is why I asked my friend – Hutek – the one who has just released SimplePress Thesis Skin that you have read on my previous review. I was so surprised that he could provide me the way to fix it easily in less than 3 minute without looking the code of Blogussion. How amazing it was!

Here is the code that you need to put in your custom.css:

.custom li.widget {margin-bottom:0 !important;}

That is all! You should try by yourself and remember to clear cookies and caches to see the different. I am happy not to see the big space on my sidebar now and really thankful to Hutek for his quick support.

I hope this bug could be included in the next release of Blogussion, so everyone can fix it. However, you can do it now!

Good luck!

Yes. You might need to have a look at SimplePress too, cheap but amazing theme for magazine on Thesis framework. See demo here: http://go.eblogviet.com/simplepress

Good to see that your site has that bug fixed, looks more pro. However, the nav menu has caused your banner and featured so weird, actually, it moved those stuff down. Fix it pls

Hi Tinh,

Really? I can’t see any weird things there. It looks ok actually. Which browser are you using to view it? If can, please provide me a screen shot. It looks ok in firefox and chrome.

What is the resolution of your desktop? Try to use the most popular one to fit your readers

Reply

Fazreen February 26, 2010 at 7:10 pm

1280×800 screen resolution. I have asked my readers and they told everything is fine..

Maybe, we are using different resolution

You should check your stats on Google Analytics and see what resolution that your readers used the most, therefore you can adapt to serve the majority of them

I see blogussiom theme is getting popular. Of course it has few bugs but it is a good looking theme. I see that it was a problem with margin or padding. It was easily solved by simplepress developer.

Yes, he is my best friend, the one I mentioned to you previously and he is now planning to do big thing, the first for Thesis is SimplePress and I am thinking to use it for eblogtip. What do you think buddy?

Or if you don’t want to do that way, you can open layout.css file in custom directory, follow line 201 change margin-bottom:7.269em; to margin-bottom:0em;

That’s the way i used :yeah:

Did this way really help?

It not a safe way because layout.css will be change when you change some Thesis settings. The best way is add it to custom.css

I am not designer but I have seen most of Thesis tutorials are put in custom.css or custom_functions.php rather than layouts.css

Same here, it looks fine for me and there’s no spacing I see with my Firefox browser. I don’t know what’s wrong. My resolution is 1280 x 800.

Tran, maybe you can report this to their forum under this thread so that they can fix it in the coming version.

Tran Tinh February 26, 2010 at 9:27 pm

I did once but no reply then I asked Hutek to do it for me. It is fine now

Just follow Tinh and it’s ok now

I’m hesitant when it comes to a fix to a plug-in on a specific template. I mean, a lot of things to fix for the display of blocks on your sidebar. In a regular theme, all you’d have to do is edit the CSS a bit.

Blogussion is a special one then we need specific guide to do so. It is running on Thesis framework which is totally different from normal wordpress theme then it is a bit hard for even experienced bloggers

Very helpful. I’m considering Blogussion to add to my Thesis theme. I’ve bookmarked your Thesis tutorials page.

Very, very nice how it looks every thing in your blog. Blogussion is the best Skin for Thesis, and Thesis is the best theme for wordpress.

One question:?
How doy you put the thumbnails well aligned in your most recent post, and what plugin do you use? I have some problem with mine.
